It's unbelievably tragic that the famous Tory money tree the Conservatives worshiped when trying to loosen Gordon Brown's premiership from office has been hacked down in Northumberland by those who once knelt before it, leaving a gap much wider than Arthur Daly that the current administration run by his cohorts cannot fill.

Two meetings of Council this week has shown the public how dire the elected administration has become with Tory leader of council, Glen Sanderson who replaced his sidekick, deputy, councillor Richard Wearmouth at a scrutiny panel, (not sure why?) When a shortage of cash for projects was questioned, Glen the man of many posh suits announced to the world that to get his pet projects funded another round of redundancies was in the offing.

It goes to show that across Northumberland top Conservatives have forgotten how to conserve jobs which the public want and need, leaving Council services to go to the dogs as long as projects promised by the Tories are delivered for their chums. 

It doesn’t seem to matter that the workers who will be put on the scrap heap possibly have families to feed and bills to pay. It also seems to have slipped the wiring within the brains of Northumberland’s Tory boys that oppressing workers by releasing pay-off threats just before xmas may increase untold stress and damage industrial relations across the Councils myriad of workplaces.

Just as that train pulled away from Wylam Station a report appeared in the public domain to the audit committee of the Council which expresses the opinion that not only has the Council failed to achieve Best Value on behalf of its residents and heavily burdened council tax payers but that it hasn’t achieved Best Value since May 2017 and now must not spend any of its reserve cash to bail out jobs, projects and services as TORY MISMANAGEMENT has stripped the reserves to the bone.

Yet, the illustration above from the Council’s own web site shows that in March 2023, Northumberland County Council had almost £1Bn in reserves, a massive in year jump of £553M and they still forced up your Council Tax to the maximum, and this week its government appointed auditor told them they are not to spend any more from the reserve pot. On what have the Tories at County Hall spent this monstrous amount of cash on?. 

Setting the Tories ego’s aside. These revelations exposed to the public this week follow on from a report discovered through a codgers run around of known Tory social media earlier this summer that the Treasury team at the only half modernised, expensive to run and almost empty County Hall in  Morpeth, central to the ‘Heart of Castle Morpeth’s’ gigantic green belt where much of the now missing cash has been spent, told the Conservative elected members in private that they must cut the Councils borrowing by 50%.

We are not surprised with that, as the Government figures issued this summer showed that Northumberland was in debt 300% of its total spending power and it is paying 17.4% of its total intake of cash each year to service the interest on the debt.

Families forced onto 6% mortgages this year know how much of a problem servicing that mortgage is on top of energy bills and rip off Britain food costs but imaging if your mortgage or credit card sat at 17.4%?

Following on from the issue of a Section 114 notice this year, the Caller Report that the Conservatives have simply ignored and councillor Sanderson’s sacking of the improvement board when they started to ask questions when coupled with the inability to fund services even after charging one of britain's highest Council Tax levy’s is abominable and with no plan to try to resolve the issues its time they left office for good.

The Castle Morpeth Tory ‘Movement’ whipped up ‘Make a Noise for Bedlington’ the movement rue it now!

Following five years of a LibDem regime running County Hall in Morpeth hand in hand skipping through the daisies in Carlisle Park in Morpeth with the Tories, Labour got the nod to run a minority administration and begin to get the stagnant smelly Chamber at County Hall working in harmony with their electorate.

The Tory bully boys who were eventually caught out through their misogyny against female officers working for the council, used an opportunity to pressurise a minority administration by whipping up a group of their very vocal supporters who wanted to win the race to be first at the trough to get cash that was squirreled away by their partnership with the LibDems spent on them before any other town in the County. The bully boys' new friends who grasped the nettle first adopted the name of ‘Make a Noise’ for Bedlington.

They organised a very popular meeting in the Town with locals numbers bolstered by Tory members from across the region and many known freemasons called to the front line to clog the town and bolster the argument for ‘us first’.

The then Labour group listened and began a consultation to grasp what was wanted by those who had been previously failed by the LibDem/Tory alliance in Northumberland.

The outcome of the consultation was to bring forward the development of land behind the front street and develop up to the front street through a pedestrianized area to be known as Pipers Place.

Labour kickstarted the development by bringing Morrisons to a former redundant site and grasping a request from Lidl to develop next door with people noting that Aldi had promised to bring a store if they could get allowed access to a site on the former Town Centre car park. Then with the local public agreeing to the layout of Pipers Place land and property acquisition and demolition rapidly got underway.

The Tories at County Hall who were predominant on the planning committees of the Council put as many obstacles as possible in the way of the development and time ran out for Labour as planning permission took so long.

The Tories took over in May 2017 and pushed the Councils cash and loads of expensive loans towards Castle Morpeth developments and ignored the area they had led astray. But this week the ‘Make a Noise’ team struck out at the Tory Leader, the ultra right movement member Glen Sanderson who has ignored their plight and was part of the former ‘promise team’ had to face the Towns wrath at their Local Area Committee meeting.

He was allegedly seen squirming and fearful of having to face his problem square on and demanded that the meeting room be cleared of the public and a private meeting held with County Councillors. His plea fell on deaf ears.

Yet even though all of his nodding and sniveling his lips didn’t reveal a promise at all, and as his features turned ever more demonic those good folk from Bedlington West knew they were dealing with a complete toerag of the capitalist free market order as his twisting oral mutterings seemed to move towards the works of the Northumberland Line at Bedlington Station, the Town next door.

It's infuriating for the Bedlington West folk that after following the promises from the Tories to the letter they have been severely let down, but they didn’t believe the old adage their forefathers believed in of ‘NEVER TRUST A TORY’.

Unbelievable Council Leader Is ecstatic about £2.7m thrown towards his begging bowl?

His Government has stolen £267,519,000 from Northumberland County Council Taxpayers and Drivers!

This week we codgers met in Cramlington for a chat following Labour's massively successful campaign to win back a Town Council seat against all of the odds and obstacles placed in voters' way through the Tories new rules on hacking back on democracy. Local Tories even curtailed the delivery of polling cards to residents homes in a failed attempt to stop people knowing an election was taking place, Labour won the seat polling 3.5 to 1. In the process, lighting the blue touchpaper of the ultra-right wing grumpy leader of both the Tory party in Northumberland, and the secretive ‘Castle Morpeth Movement’ allegedly seated in his leopard skin covered throne in the almost empty and expensive to run with Council taxpayers cash, palace AKA, County Hall in Morpeth.

In order to spin his way back into his often stated known position of ‘look at me, I’m an well dressed Tory’ councillor Sanderson made an announcement regarding highways funding from his Government just days after his only friend, Guy Opperman MP for Hexham and a Castle Morpeth aficionado was offered a move by Rishi Sunak to the post of under secretary for transport in his reshuffle to bring back the man whose ideas on austerity stripped almost. £260m from Northumberlands spending power, increased pressure on the NHS through the reduction in the number of nurses, opened food banks all over Northumberland, destroyed our high streets through reducing people's ability to spend, increased homelessness and child poverty, decimated our police force, hacked back on our civil service and forced up the retirement age: David Cameron, the famous Brexit gambler and austerity manager.

Councillor Sanderson who should have been making an announcement to dual the A1 all the way to Scotland and the A69 from Hexham to Carlisle instead made a formal announcement; the the County, with over 3000 ml of road to maintain is going to be gifted £2.7m this year and next, then being slashed back to £1.8m per year for the following 8 years. This magnanimous offer from the Tory Government is much less than the County would have made in interest payments if it hadn't had a quarter of a billion pounds stolen by the same Government in office from their purse.

Councillor Sanderson has also missed out that Rishi Sunak has threatened to remove funding from Councils who miss the targets. The Tories in office have put £8.3Bn and issued a statement via Guy Opperman MP published in the Telegraph that the huge figure quoted will enable the resurfacing of 5000 miles of highway.

Yet Councillor Sanderson appears ecstatic that the MOT undersecretary is going to give them almost 2 miles of resurfacing funding in year one and two and a mile and a bit in year three. This is GO’s quote from the newspaper Guy Opperman said: "We're investing an additional £8.3bn, the biggest ever boost for local road improvements, which is enough to resurface over 5,000 miles of road and shows that this Government is on the side of drivers. To ensure this investment is truly transformational for road users up and down the country, we are committed to holding councils to account to make sure that taxpayers' money is well spent and properly fixes roads."

We must ask Councillors at this juncture if the people will be offered a referendum to see which 2ml of the 3000ml plus of roads in Northumberland will be resurfaced? and if they agree with Guy Opperman MP that he is on the side of drivers?. Also will the resurfacing take place outside of Castle Morpeth?, we codgers doubt it!

Councillor Sanderson whose leadership has seen borrowing by his council zoom to above 300% of its core spending power, is going to have to borrow another £17m to ensure his workforce can deliver peoples highways basic needs, an unbelievable downturn by an unbelievable leader as future councils will have to pay for his inability to openly run his Council and accept that public scrutiny is a must. He has developed a Council in his image, carrying one and a half billion pounds in debt which can’t quite be covered by his depleted reserves and assets. He has converted it into seven companies that have audit problems and his core business hasn't delivered best value on behalf of his residents since 2017. This fact alone should certainly get people asking what he has done with the cash? Or has it all gone in a flash flood in Castle Morpeth?  

Senility entrenched in Northumberland County Councils Leadership shows they have forgotten just how bad they are?

A response from Northumberland County Councils Deputy Leader, Councillor oh! That whatshisname, to comments in the press from the Labour Group Leader Councillor Scott Dickinson regarding the 'look at me I'm a Tory' message put out about Council Tax rebates shows that the Conservative Party in Northumberland have quickly forgotten the problems, deceit, atmosphere and misuse of public money they have slithered through since 2017.

So following the forgetful press release we thought it was time to remind  everyone of just how awful they have been in office?

The Tories terror campaigns started with them paying out hundreds of thousands of pounds to protect themselves from prosecution when they stopped a project supported by their own Government in office to build a Garden Village near Ponteland.

They also removed the core strategy plan which linked all policies of the Council under one banner and replaced it with a 'Local Plan' designed to form a green ring around their chosen heartland of former Castle Morpeth district, dumped nearly all new build programs into the south-east of the County allowing no development in villages leading to the closure of local amenities and a massive increase in second homes.

They recruited new people into their wolf pack who some would consider undesirable, such as cops thrown out the force and nasty people you wouldn't like your children to meet.

Those people, uncontrolled by the forgetful and possibly senile Morpeth Movement, began a series of attacks on officers who openly reported that bullying was rife within the Council. 

Officers began to leave in their droves to be replaced by interim contractors and in some cases professionals who worked from hundreds of miles away and didn't have any affinity at all in or with the County and therefore the hit on the public purse was enormous as Tories ran wild and free promoting misogyny and huge ring fenced spend in Castle Morpeth leaving other areas to pay the massive increase in borrowing costs through their huge annual rises in Council Tax.

Service levels began to shrink back and places suffered from cutbacks beyond the norm.

A council leader, another whatshisname, oh! Jackson was kicked out of office.

Things got so bad and reputations suffered so much that an expert in correcting failure, Max Caller had to be brought in to work his magic. Northumberland was one of his few failures in his long well quoted career.

A modernisation team was brought in to help and as soon as the Movement found out about the changes they proposed the leadership sacked them.

Costs to the public purse then escalated when a whole management team was kicked out and more indemnity was sought in the form of a very costly deal plan to keep councillors out of court.

Councillors not part of the movement were threatened with the loss of their homes if information leaked out about how bad things were.

More recently with the Council asked by financial experts to curtail some of its spending plans on the basis that they were far too costly for what they were, two fingers were put up to officers who had the gall to question the senile. 

Oh! And on the name of the deputy, We think it is dicky something, or does he even remember his own name at all?
