Spectacular financial failure leading to the creation of a £30m levelling down black-hole, is Northumberland Conservatives undoing.

After 7 years of waste, bullying, section 114 notices, investigations, compensations, infighting, failed business ventures and attempted secrecy, Northumberlands conservative group who have chosen to reduce the once fantastic £339m reserves of the Council down to having to admit to a £30m Black Hole in their accounts. 

Their breathtaking errors of judgment include creating a railway line without enough stations to make it viable, not delivering the often promised high speed broadband into the Tyne Valley, forking out £millions to compensate drivers for pothole damage, leaving social services in a dreadful state with families still having to sell homes to fund care provision, allowing drainage ditches to fill with herbage, moving from cleaning highways gullies twice per year to once every two years causing flooding in considerably more places than need be, failing to deliver the 8000 jobs they and their MP’s have promised on an ever broken 78rpm record regularity, allowing former Castle Morpeth waste to pollute our seas, sitting behind the skirts of Berwicks MP who has repeatedly not delivered on her highways promises whilst  the Tories as a party are ecstatic regarding their ability in delivering each of its major townships in the South East of the County with their own individual real levelling down holes.

Their latest debacle is a program of ‘Cut less grass and slash services’ with the leader of this almost derelict Council sporting a new jacket when announcing to the world that he’s holding a ‘review of grounds maintenance’ to leave acres of uncut verge on housing estates on the back of privatizing its leisure services to a London based outfit, whilst in almost the same breath announces his own personal baby of ‘the great northumberland forest’ for a council area which is home to the greatest commercial forest in England with wags asking if that's because grass grows more slowly in dark, dank, murky and these days insecure and dangerous wooded glades?

Why their own government hasn’t decided to send in specialist to sack the secret cabinet and push the Council into an early election on the back of their dreadful failures we do not know, but things could be helped if they follow the instructions of Conservative Minister Micheal Gove MP and sell County Hall in Morpeth to offset the financial mess they are forcing on the residents they are meant to protect and safeguard instead of digging further into their purses and pockets with the sixth maximum Council Tax in a row from a council which doesn't seem to know it’s ar#× from its elbow as they say in darkest Ponteland.
