Fractured Tories not Concentrating on People’s Needs?

Northumberland Conservatives, a group of individuals who seem to hold a great interest in themselves and not those they were elected to serve have made some serious decisions over the last six years which are now damaging their populus.

The reason we codgers are raising this now is that the Conservative spin from County Hall will be smoothed over through the reorganization of both Constituencies and Council ward boundaries as the collapse of services aligns quite nicely with some very bonny news items about where we all live.

Under the cover of arguments about I never shop in Berwick or Alnwick but I’m now part of those communities for instance, will blanket the destruction of social services through the falling out between Health and  Social care during the ‘We don't like our Chief Executive’ saga brought on by Conservative Councillors. Changes which were concreted over in the Caller report and the removal of the independent team set up to monitor change in the Council illustrates why your relative with problems can’t get an assessment within a clear time span and why following that eventual assessment costs to be born by the person or their relatives are so huge.

The secret nature of the Council has also seeped out of County Halls drains through Freedom Of Information requests to other Councils on ‘what do they know’ the Government’s FOI website which show that leading Conservative councillors from Northumberland have not attended any of the meetings to discuss the future of older person Bus Passes  over the last two years, but they moan about the payments for this lifeline for many at every opportunity, with their own Government not willing to cough up the £450M Councils currently pay in fees annually.

The fractures continue at all levels within the Conservative Party with their national leader Rishi Sunak deciding that the only way to control immigration and get enough staff to keep the NHS running until the new training program offers up enough people to fill at least some of the vacancies is to rejoin the EU. This shock for an ultra-right wing Government comes after advice from the Trade unions involved with Health show that a retention package to stop experienced staff from drifting out of the system and out of the national workforce is really what's required.

In Northumberland problems with grass cutting, shrubs overgrowing highways, litter, potholes and double payments from Parish Councils to support services have been brought to the fore by splinter groups of Conservatives operating in the guise of Parish councillors and when they complain they are threatened with being sent to the local government police, the famous Standards Boards. Those boards in Northumberland are designed to no longer follow the rules and be managed by independent people, instead they have been filled with friends of the Leadership so that Tories who breach the rules and Kowtow to the Leader of Council can feel safe and opposition Councils and renegade Tories are stymied and can’t criticise the rulers and if they do their reputations are brought into disrepute.

County Hall may have been modernised at the cost of millions but the stench from within still pervades communities County-wide.
